Climate change is presenting growing challenges worldwide, placing the agricultural sector at the forefront of the crisis. In Africa, where agriculture supports millions of livelihoods, the stakes are even higher. To support agribusiness stakeholders in navigating this shifting landscape, the Agri-Business Facility for Africa (ABF) is excited to announce the launch of the complete Climate Smart Agribusiness (CSA) Course Series on the Agribusiness e-Academy.

This free and self-paced e-learning series is designed for a wide audience, including agribusiness owners and staff, producers, extension officers, educators, students, and master trainers. The goal is to equip them with practical tools and knowledge to build more climate resilient and sustainable agribusinesses.

The Climate Smart Agribusiness Course Series: At a Glance
The series comprises three interlinked courses, each targeting a key dimension of climate smart agribusiness:

1. Climate Smart Agribusiness: Essentials
The course provides the foundational understanding of climate change, its root causes, and its direct and indirect impacts on agribusinesses. It explores the strong interconnections between climate risks and agricultural productivity, introducing a variety of climate-smart practices that can be integrated into daily operations.

2. Climate Smart Agribusiness: Adaptation
CSA: Adaptation dives deeper into adaptation strategies. Learners are guided on how to assess climate-related risks and implement adaptive measures suited to their local contexts. It provides practical frameworks for increasing resilience at both the enterprise and community levels.

3. Climate Smart Agribusiness: Mitigation
The final course in the series explores mitigation techniques and how agribusinesses can actively contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Importantly, this course also highlights the opportunities for women and youth in the green economy, showcasing how inclusive mitigation efforts can drive innovation, job creation, and equitable growth.

Each course takes approximately 3 to 3.5 hours to complete and can be accessed anytime, from anywhere. Upon completion, participants will receive a certificate, adding value to their professional development and capacity-building efforts.

Why It Matters
Building climate resilience in agribusiness is not just an environmental priority, it is also an economic and social imperative. This e-learning series provides timely, relevant, and actionable knowledge that supports agribusinesses in transforming challenges into opportunities.

All stakeholders are encouraged to explore the courses and widely share across their networks and partner institutions.

This is an initiative of the Agribusiness Facility (ABF), co-funded by the European Union under the Samoa Agreement with the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (ACP) and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
